Why Singlets DON’T SUCK…by the Everyday Male
I am always looking to try new underwear trends, even if I may or may not like them. The philosophy is: “If I try it once and don’t like it, at least I tried it!”
One trend I was hesitant on (until recently) was the singlet. My hesitance was due to imagery. When you see most of the underwear brands that has singlets in their collections, their models are very muscular, over-the-top, porno-type looking guys. First of all, I don’t have that so-called ‘perfect body’, but I do keep in shape. Secondly, I didn’t think I would look good in a pair (see the first reason).
That all changed due friend of mine, Eric. We had a conversation awhile ago and the ‘facebook chat’ came up about singlets. I told him my reservations and his response was (paraphrasing): “Who care what you look like. As long as you look good in it!” Taking his advise, I decided to go on a quest to wear a singlet!
Now, most (if not all) guys in high-school and collegiate wrestling wear singlets when competing. Even those in so-called professional wrestling (aka sports entertainment, i.e. WWE, TNA, etc.) wear singles. Professional wrestlers like Jack Swagger, Santino Marella, and several others wear their singlets proudly…why not some ‘ordinary guy’ like myself?
Eric is wearing his singlet (sorry, don’t know the brand), as well as my partner (Charles) and myself. Charles is wearing his Westling Singlet from Go-Softwear. I am wearing the FT Singlet from Fort Troff (Unfortunately, this particular Fort Troff singlet has been discontinued).
I think we all look great in our singlets! Now, some would disagree with my assessment since we don’t have ‘heavenly bodies that you can bounce a quarter off’. Then again, we are all comfortable in our own skin and can wear whatever we like….and want, baby!
Since I started wearing them, I am fascinated with them to the level of semi-obsession. Now, my hopes are to try on other singlets from other underwear designers (that are willing to send me some) and flaunt my stuff! I hope YOU can flaunt what you like to wear, regardless of your body-type. We are beautiful and sexy creatures and should NOT be dictated what beauty is (or isn’t) by the so-called ‘beautiful people’.
IF YOU LIKE THE UNDERWEAR YOU HAVE, WEAR IT AND SHOW IT OFF! That is my encouragement and challenge to all that are self-conscious about what others will say!
