Quick review: Croota Blue Tang Hipster

I recently reviewed some undies that Croota US provided me, and this led to a couple more purchases from thisCroota Blue Tang Hipster - Black fabulous brand. I received a coupon code for reviewing a couple items on their website, so I used to that get my hands, or should I say body, on and in these undies.

First, get an idea of my feelings about the brand in my other posts by clicking here.

Croota Blue Tang Hipster - BlackMy use of this hipster / trunk was quite subdued compared to the Through Hipster, but none-the-less, it held up just as well. The pouch on this is a little more pronounced, and the seams around your package help provide a modest boost. It isn’t anything like “boosting” designs from other brands, so please don’t get your hopes up here, but it does allow for a little freedom and brings everything out front just a little more than a flat front. The fabric is a very shiny 95% Cotton, 5% Polyurethane blend that stands out and feels very sexy against your most sensitive area.

Overall, this hipster features a somewhat low rise, has a great detail on the rear (which my partner commented on looked very cute), and fits so nice that there is no riding up in the crack or bunching at the top of the legs. I suggest that if you lean towards this type of style, the fabric and pouch design on these bring this pair of undies to a new level of sexy from Croota’s other undies I’ve tried!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Croota sizes run small, so pay attention to their sizing chart! I normally wear a Small for my 29-30″ waist and that translates to a Medium in Croota.Croota Blue Tang Hipster - Black - Rear detail

Review: Croota Straight Cuts Hipster (boxer-brief)

As you’ve probably been following, I’ve been doing a series on Croota.us. I posted a brand preview, a video of opening the product, and a review of their Through Hipster. Today, I’m going to give you my reaction to the Straight Cuts Hipster (boxer-brief).

The croota.us website lists the item like this:Croota Straight Cuts Hipster

Croota Straight Cuts Hipster

This is designed with the man with an active lifestyle in mind; square cut hipster with check patterns, two point buttons on the front, and 5cm height of elastic band. More form in fitting, provides more athletic support.

95% Cotton, 5% Spandex

For this one, although the site lists it as great athletic support, I simply wore it under my slacks for a day at work.

Croota Straight Cuts HipsterDesign:I must say I really like the look of this thing. It’s quite eye catching with the checker pattern and the two buttons (decoration – non-functional fly) give the front some great attention. Like the Through, the care information is printed direct on the fabric, so no scratching or irritation (love this feature, other brands need to get the memo). There’s some cute printing on the outside at the top the left cheek with the brand name and “United States of Australia”. The waistband is very attractive with a cutoff brand name and made of a fabric blend that doesn’t cut in, leaving a nice transition from your wearing area to the upper body. It has a seam up the front that continues underneath and then up through the rear, and I’ll comment in detail how this feels. Finally, the leg openings are snug but have room to give and never rode up or bunch.

Fit and Feel: The front has no pouch, but surprisingly, it provides wonderful support. The fabric blend is reallyCroota Straight Cuts Hipster tight, and holds everything nice and snug. While there isn’t any pouch, which I initially was concerned about, I never noticed that it wasn’t there all day, and really felt supported. The front seam does something in this trunk that feels really good: it separates the the lower of your “boys” so to speak, and the overall fit does a little lifting too. This fit is somewhat difficult to explain, so take a good look at the pics in the crotch area, and combined with my description, you’ll get a really good idea how this works and looks! The overall trunk sits very snugly, lifting on the underneath, and the rear has a seam that does a really nice job separating the buns. After a few hours, this rear seam started to feel like I had a loose strapped thong on (if you know what I mean), which I thought felt real good! It provided a sensation I normally only get with a thong.

Verdict: The “Straight Cuts” hipster wore well through the day, felt like a glove holding the goods, and provide a really cool “lift separate and present” quality both in front and in back. The design detail on this trunk are quite fetching, as the buttons provide some crotch interest and the “tag” being directly written on the fabric has a fun “Best Before: Marriage” message! If you are a thong or trunk person, this will be a pair of undies that you will certainly love! If you are interested in thongs and need something to get you used to a feeling without a stronger direct contact, this trunk will act as a great beginning step for you.

Sizing: Croota runs small, so be careful to look at their size chart, or simply contact them if you need guidance, as the customer service for the US distributor is very responsive. I wore this in a Medium, and am normally a Small in other underwear brands.

Review: Croota Through Hipster

I have been eying Croota Underwear for a while, especially since an official US presence became available. They are an Australian designed line with some really sexy and unique designs. I’ll let Croota’s website give you a great overview of the company:

Welcome to Croota.us, your official supplier of Croota underwear in the U.S. Founded four years ago in Australia – the men’s underwear fashion epicenter of the world – Croota has quickly become one of the most sought-after brands among men’s underwear fans around the globe.

From the get-go, Croota’s goal has been to rescue guys from the chains of ugly, saggy men’s underwear. Because we are men’s underwear lovers ourselves, we can always be counted on for fun, breathtaking and high quality products.

Whatever your preference in men’s underwear, we’ve got it covered with our wide range of stylish designs and cuts, including Hipsters, Trunks, Bikini Briefs, and Thongs. So why not mix up your underwear choices depending on your mood: Maybe a hipster or bikini brief during the day, a thong for going out and a trunk for lounging around the house when you get home.

Now, let’s get to the Through Hipster. The Croota.us website lists it as:

Croota Through Hipster - croota.usThis low rise hipster (boxer brief) features a sporty square cut and body huggingdesign. Which provides comfort, support and great look, it is also made from high quality cotton that feels great against the skin. Another excellent feature is the mixed cotton & satin elastic waistband which keeps it from digging into your skin and causing discomfort.

95% Cotton, 5% Spandex

Now, let me tell you how I put this hipster to the test. I slipped them on after a trip to the sauna, hot tub, and a brief swim. After that, my partner and I went for a 1/2 hour roller blade session, and after a chill out by a fire, I wore them under my sleep pants overnight.

I chose this pair of undies because my outfit included a moderately low rise pair of jeans, and when I wear non-work-style pants, I want undies that don’t show up over my jeans (it’s my personal preference). This pair stayed right below my jeans, so they performed that function perfectly. Second, I like support up front for the boys, and this contoured pouch snuggled and supported them without anything special. Lastly, I hate it when underwear gets itself into places where it’s not supposed to go, and this pair of underwear stayed put.

Croota Through Hipster - croota.us Sport: I was impressed with how everything simply stayed put and was supported. The 95% cotton 5% spandex blend held everything quite comfortably and allowed for wonderful movement. Although I wear tight jeans (with a moderate low rise), these never bunched up on the legs nor provided a wedgie. While it wasn’t a particularly warm day, I never felt sweaty in the crotch during the activity, so this thing performs quite well in managing moisture.

Relaxing: While relaxing by the fire, it felt like I didn’t even have underwear on. Nothing was obtrusive about these undies, especially since the fabric / care information was printed direct inside, and the decorative “tag” was safely on the outside waistband, never scratching or causing discomfort. Bravo on this design feature Croota!

Sleeping: Let me start by saying that as I was preparing for bed, I took off my jeans and checked to see how theCroota Through Hipster - croota.us “Through” had held up through the day, and it was great! My butt looked awesome in these guys. While they don’t have “enhancing” technology, I found that it hugged in all the right places, helping push together what you’ve got to give you a nice full look behind you. I did notice that once the jeans were off and friction wasn’t holding the legs around the body, the center of the rear rode up a little bit, but never once gave a wedgie or thong-like feeling. I was concerned, however, that while I slept that this may cause some “attention” where it would have been obtrusive, but these were great in that regard.

Croota Through Hipster - croota.us The verdict: This hipster is a great low-rise that will sit perfectly under your jeans and hold you well during any activity. The waistband, rear fabric and leg openings stay put and don’t go where they aren’t wanted. The rear info-tag is printed direct on the fabric causing extreme comfort against your most sensitive skin, and while the pouch is contoured and concise, it will not “confine” you when you sleep. I whole-heartedly recommended this pair for both brief and trunk style lovers, as you will feel comfortably supported. You will not be disappointed with this underwear, and it will quickly become part of your regular wear rotation (as it has leapfrogged ahead in mine).

Would I buy another pair? I didn’t buy this pair, but thanks to Croota.us providing me this for review, they have given me a wonderful introduction to their brand. I WILL be buying a couple of their bundles in the near future to try out some of their other designs!

Sizing: Pay attention to their size chart! I normally wear a size Small in my underwear (29-30), but that size in Croota (and this pair) translated to a Medium. This sizing was perfect for me. Feel free to contact them if you are unsure of your size.

Brand Preview: Croota

It’s been a while since I have reviewed anything on here, but I’m back! I am about to embark on a mini-series focused on Croota, an Australian undie company founded about 4 years ago. I’ve been looking at their designs for a while, and more recently now that they have a US focused presence. One of the things I like about Croota is their bundles undie packages. You should check them out!

Quick Review: Marcuse Arrest Me Swimsuit in Black

Only a quick review here on this amazingly low swim brief that is expertly made and is super sexy!  Don’t forget to enter the promotion code “undiefan” during checkout and save 15% on this and the entire store (through end of September)!  I have worn this suit several times and received both gasps and compliments.  It rides very low in front and in back, and although I am comfortable in it, you may want to consider sizing up if you are self-conscious about that, or have a larger than average soft size.  It is made of 100% polyester, so it doesn’t stretch too much for accommodations, but keeps you well compressed (you will not need to worry about “growing” too much).  This does, however, allow for durability in chlorinated pools.

Review (X2): 2(x)ist SLIQ Brief and Trunk

2(x)ist, in my humble opinion, is one of the premier companies that brought men’s fashion underwear to the mainstream.  They offer many designs, styles, fabrics, colors, and all of this in front of the general public in retail and specialty internet shops.  What is nice to see, however, is that 2(x)ist doesn’t stop innovating, and their new SLIQ line should raise the bar for this brand, and they are really going to have to reach high to beat this new high.

From 2(x)ist about SLIQ http://www.2xist.com/site/collection-detail.asp?wd=100024:

With extraordinary, provocative fashion, 2(x)ist redefines “sexy” for the modern man Fall 2010 with the introduction of the revolutionary collection called Sliq (sleek). The introduction of a Sliq Brief and a Sliq Trunk lead the way, both featuring a lower rise than before, super slim side widths exposing the thigh, and an (x)-treme contoured pouch for more support and better profile enhancement. The micro-fiber waistband is tipped with a bright red stripe, leading to the engineered 2(x)ist logo in a sexy and mysterious shadowed layout.

First of all, h/t to Men’s Underwear Store, where I bought my pairs.  They ship in discreet packaging same day, and even though it was shipped USPS First Class, I ordered on a Friday and received on a Monday!  For this review, I’m not going with my previous good / bad / verdict, because the verdict is these are some of the most comfortable undies I have ever worn from 2(x)ist.

The rise: One of my complaints with some recent lines from 2(x)ist, and one of the reasons some of their undies don’t end up at the front of my rotation, is that they are very inconsistent in what they call low rise.  The SLIQ line, however, absolutely delivers in the low rise department!

The pouch: I can’t say it’s particularly (x)-treme, especially when you have tried the Obviously or Andrew Christian Almost Naked, but it’s more of a pouch than 2(x)ist has ever put out before.

The fabric: Made from a 90% cotton 10% spandex blend, these are about what you would expect.  They both cling well, stretch just right in the right places (you can imagine here), and are extremely soft and light.

The wear: Both the brief and trunk have a wear that feels like you aren’t wearing anything, yet you are really well supported.  I’d say about a couple hours into the day, regardless of the cut I was wearing, literally forgot I had any underwear on!  This is how underwear is supposed to fit.

2(x)ist offers many colors and cuts for this line, so you can get a pair (or more) in whatever tickles your fancy!  What I can say, however, is that you will most certainly not regret your purchase, so get out there and buy one today!

Where can you buy these?

Review: Calvin Klein X Micro Low Rise Trunk

Calvin Klein released their latest line in their arsenal of undies recently, and quite honestly, took the men’s undergarment world by storm with the X Micro collection!  The buzz on the internet was all over these undies, and after trying this pair, I not only understand and agree, but have also picked up a few more in the range as well!

No question that Calvin Klein’s X Micro collection is smooth, sleek, and sexy.  The Fabric blend combines the smooth texture and breath ability of 90% Nylon with the support and body-defining stretch of 10% Elastane.  Most notably, however, is the bold waistband with Calvin Klein logo in Crimson red with embossed X-collection patch at front and center.

The Good: I have found the durability to be top-notch, as you would expect from CK.  The fabric is soft, supportive, breathable, and non-binding for comfortable all-day wear.  I like that they come in several colors and cuts, to suit several tastes.

The Bad: Could have more colors, and would love to see a couple more cuts in this popular line.

The Verdict: Get yourself a few pairs from this line!

Where to get it?

Quick Review (and comparison): aussieBum FLEX-SUPPORT Brief

I recently ordered a couple new items from one of my favorite brands, aussieBum; the League Swim Brief and the FLEX-SUPPORT Brief.  I wore the FLEX-SUPPORT brief yesterday, a day after wearing the BODIFORM brief (which I reviewed here), and I have to say that although the two are strikingly similar, there are a few notable differences between the lines.

Both the BODIFORM and FLEX-SUPPORT are made of a blend of an 88% Egyptian Cotton, 12% Elastane blend.  Both are extremely soft and fit pretty much the same.  Both have very distinct waistbands, large and bold.  Both mold well to all the parts under your pants, and as I mentioned in my review of BODIFORM, the FLEX-SUPPORT also have a seam in front that runs between the legs that attaches to a seamless rear, which hugs underneath similar to a thong for a very nice feeling.

But there are a couple small differences I found between them.  The BODIFORM feels more firm overall, whereas the FLEX-SUPPORT fabric is a little softer and more supple.  I wouldn’t say the newer version is an “upgrade”, more of a softer fabric before it gets warmed up.  Think of the BODIFORM’s fabric as getting more supple as it warms up, while the FLEX-SUPPORT is already warmed up (sorry, but this is the best way I can put it).  I think the most significant difference is the waistband.  I found the FLEX-SUPPORT waistband to be softer and more forgiving.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the BODIFORM waistband, and I think provides a wonderful addition to your undie wardrobe, but the FLEX-SUPPORT bold blue up front design is just softer.

I would recommend you get both, and compare for yourself, of course, because these are both great briefs.

Review: aussieBum BODIFORM Brief (Tone color)

aussieBum has been coming out with new underwear styles like the Great Lakes supplies fresh water to the Midwest!  I have purchased several of the new styles, including the BODIFORM Brief in Tone color (although not new, they are still recent as they came out about a year ago).

My first day wearing them, I had several feelings.  First, these are a fuller cut brief, similar to how their newer undie lines have been, so nothing new here (not the lower-rise like the wonderjocks or “undies” are).  Second, these things mold, and I mean really form to your body, in areas that I haven’t had anything touch in a while.  What do I mean by this?  I stopped wearing thongs as my preferred style a few years ago, and these things hugged “up” between the boys and the backside right on where it’s most sensitive.  I thought this was a very welcome feeling, because it gives you the pleasure side of wearing a thong without the feel of the full strap.

The good: Another extremely well-made pair of underwear from a premier company.  The fabric is extremely soft, yet firm (hard to explain).  I loved how well these molded around my entire private area.   This pair of underwear held up perfect through several “normal” washings.

The bad: Nothing I found is negative.

The verdict: If you are looking for a full-cut brief where the waistband is bold and can “peek” if you want it to, that molds to your body and gives you a very nice feeling where it counts, this pair of underwear is for you!
