Zach Attack! Undie Review: Titanium Navy Briefs by aussieBum

Hey UndieFans!

I hope you’re having a good Wednesday. I’m here to give you my first review, and this one has to go to aussieBum for it’s Titanium Navy Brief. I love these! I bought them a month ago, and I’m glad I did. I’m currently wearing them right now (as I should for a proper review, right?).  To start, I love the broad waistband, I love having them show over the top of my jeans. The material is stretchy, and the right kind of soft. I simply love it!

Here they are from the front. I love how they have the orange trim going around. Do you like the large waistband? I have always been a big fan of that and thought it looked great!

Here’s the side view, a good shot of the orange trim.

Finally, the back.

So what did you think Undie Fans? Do you like them? I certainly do. I was very happy with my purchase. Unlike some other briefs I’ve owned, these ones don’t ride up and give me a wedgie (embarrassing I know, but it has to be said, right?). I know everyone has a different body type, but if they don’t ride up on me, hopefully they don’t on you either!

I would rate these an 8.5/10

Well, that’s it for my first review, I hope it was informative. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know by emailing Zach@UndieFan.com or on twitter @zachieboy, I’d love to answer any questions you have. What pair will I do next?

Happy shopping,

Zach out!

Quick Review: Marcuse Arrest Me Swimsuit in Black

Only a quick review here on this amazingly low swim brief that is expertly made and is super sexy!  Don’t forget to enter the promotion code “undiefan” during checkout and save 15% on this and the entire store (through end of September)!  I have worn this suit several times and received both gasps and compliments.  It rides very low in front and in back, and although I am comfortable in it, you may want to consider sizing up if you are self-conscious about that, or have a larger than average soft size.  It is made of 100% polyester, so it doesn’t stretch too much for accommodations, but keeps you well compressed (you will not need to worry about “growing” too much).  This does, however, allow for durability in chlorinated pools.

Review (X2): 2(x)ist SLIQ Brief and Trunk

2(x)ist, in my humble opinion, is one of the premier companies that brought men’s fashion underwear to the mainstream.  They offer many designs, styles, fabrics, colors, and all of this in front of the general public in retail and specialty internet shops.  What is nice to see, however, is that 2(x)ist doesn’t stop innovating, and their new SLIQ line should raise the bar for this brand, and they are really going to have to reach high to beat this new high.

From 2(x)ist about SLIQ http://www.2xist.com/site/collection-detail.asp?wd=100024:

With extraordinary, provocative fashion, 2(x)ist redefines “sexy” for the modern man Fall 2010 with the introduction of the revolutionary collection called Sliq (sleek). The introduction of a Sliq Brief and a Sliq Trunk lead the way, both featuring a lower rise than before, super slim side widths exposing the thigh, and an (x)-treme contoured pouch for more support and better profile enhancement. The micro-fiber waistband is tipped with a bright red stripe, leading to the engineered 2(x)ist logo in a sexy and mysterious shadowed layout.

First of all, h/t to Men’s Underwear Store, where I bought my pairs.  They ship in discreet packaging same day, and even though it was shipped USPS First Class, I ordered on a Friday and received on a Monday!  For this review, I’m not going with my previous good / bad / verdict, because the verdict is these are some of the most comfortable undies I have ever worn from 2(x)ist.

The rise: One of my complaints with some recent lines from 2(x)ist, and one of the reasons some of their undies don’t end up at the front of my rotation, is that they are very inconsistent in what they call low rise.  The SLIQ line, however, absolutely delivers in the low rise department!

The pouch: I can’t say it’s particularly (x)-treme, especially when you have tried the Obviously or Andrew Christian Almost Naked, but it’s more of a pouch than 2(x)ist has ever put out before.

The fabric: Made from a 90% cotton 10% spandex blend, these are about what you would expect.  They both cling well, stretch just right in the right places (you can imagine here), and are extremely soft and light.

The wear: Both the brief and trunk have a wear that feels like you aren’t wearing anything, yet you are really well supported.  I’d say about a couple hours into the day, regardless of the cut I was wearing, literally forgot I had any underwear on!  This is how underwear is supposed to fit.

2(x)ist offers many colors and cuts for this line, so you can get a pair (or more) in whatever tickles your fancy!  What I can say, however, is that you will most certainly not regret your purchase, so get out there and buy one today!

Quick Review (and comparison): aussieBum FLEX-SUPPORT Brief

I recently ordered a couple new items from one of my favorite brands, aussieBum; the League Swim Brief and the FLEX-SUPPORT Brief.  I wore the FLEX-SUPPORT brief yesterday, a day after wearing the BODIFORM brief (which I reviewed here), and I have to say that although the two are strikingly similar, there are a few notable differences between the lines.

Both the BODIFORM and FLEX-SUPPORT are made of a blend of an 88% Egyptian Cotton, 12% Elastane blend.  Both are extremely soft and fit pretty much the same.  Both have very distinct waistbands, large and bold.  Both mold well to all the parts under your pants, and as I mentioned in my review of BODIFORM, the FLEX-SUPPORT also have a seam in front that runs between the legs that attaches to a seamless rear, which hugs underneath similar to a thong for a very nice feeling.

But there are a couple small differences I found between them.  The BODIFORM feels more firm overall, whereas the FLEX-SUPPORT fabric is a little softer and more supple.  I wouldn’t say the newer version is an “upgrade”, more of a softer fabric before it gets warmed up.  Think of the BODIFORM’s fabric as getting more supple as it warms up, while the FLEX-SUPPORT is already warmed up (sorry, but this is the best way I can put it).  I think the most significant difference is the waistband.  I found the FLEX-SUPPORT waistband to be softer and more forgiving.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the BODIFORM waistband, and I think provides a wonderful addition to your undie wardrobe, but the FLEX-SUPPORT bold blue up front design is just softer.

I would recommend you get both, and compare for yourself, of course, because these are both great briefs.

Review: aussieBum BODIFORM Brief (Tone color)

aussieBum has been coming out with new underwear styles like the Great Lakes supplies fresh water to the Midwest!  I have purchased several of the new styles, including the BODIFORM Brief in Tone color (although not new, they are still recent as they came out about a year ago).

My first day wearing them, I had several feelings.  First, these are a fuller cut brief, similar to how their newer undie lines have been, so nothing new here (not the lower-rise like the wonderjocks or “undies” are).  Second, these things mold, and I mean really form to your body, in areas that I haven’t had anything touch in a while.  What do I mean by this?  I stopped wearing thongs as my preferred style a few years ago, and these things hugged “up” between the boys and the backside right on where it’s most sensitive.  I thought this was a very welcome feeling, because it gives you the pleasure side of wearing a thong without the feel of the full strap.

The good: Another extremely well-made pair of underwear from a premier company.  The fabric is extremely soft, yet firm (hard to explain).  I loved how well these molded around my entire private area.   This pair of underwear held up perfect through several “normal” washings.

The bad: Nothing I found is negative.

The verdict: If you are looking for a full-cut brief where the waistband is bold and can “peek” if you want it to, that molds to your body and gives you a very nice feeling where it counts, this pair of underwear is for you!

Review (X2): aussieBum CottonSoft Brief and Hipster

As a premium men’s wear company, aussieBum keeps everyone on their toes with new styles being released on a regular basis.  I have a new Journey on the way that I bought over the weekend, but not to digress, I have worn, washed, re-worn two items out of  their CottonSoft range:

  • Brief in Mountain Grey
  • Hipster trunk in Metro Black

For your waistband: If you prefer a hipper metallic silver, go for Metro.  If you prefer a toned down “soft earth green”, go for the Mountain.  I found both undies’ fabric to be incredibly soft, made up of a 92% cotton, 8% elastane blend, these are cotton undies done right!  They are very well made, and I found their durability to be top notch!

The brief is a full cut pair of undies, which has a higher rise than I typically prefer.  I found the full rear cut to be nice for all day wear with little to no riding up where it’s uncomfortable.  The pouch holds everything pretty well, regardless of riding position.  If you are a briefs guy, this pair is totally for you!

The hipster is lower rise than the brief and I found the pouch to be more prominent with stitching designed to do a some extra supporting that wasn’t in the brief style.  The leggings pretty much stayed put down the leg, only riding up a little, requiring about two resets during the day.  Of the two, I lean towards preferring this pair, primarily because of the lower rise and pouch comfort / support.

The good: VERY well made undies with a choice of waistband colors that have held up well after two all-day wearings and a normal wash cycle.  If cotton is your fabric choice, aussieBum found the blend that, IMHO, is cotton done right!

The bad: Somewhat inconsistent in rise / pouch design between the brief and hipster (although not truly a bad, as it provides options in the same terrifically comfortable fabric in wear-ability) and only three colors in the two waistband options.

The verdict: These quickly moved to the top of my rotation!  The fabric, if you haven’t figured out so far, is amazingly comfortable.  aussieBum, as a premium underwear company, constructs these well and has a huge hit on their hands.  I have had more comments on twitter regarding this range more than any other “#undiesdojour”!

Where can you get these?  Direct from aussieBum of course!

Review: Andrew Christian Almost Naked Fusion Brief

Andrew Christian’s undies are forward thinking when it comes to fabric, design and function!  His lines have been widely recognized as a quality up-scale brand, and he never fails to deliver a quality product, regardless if you purchase from his store or through a variety of resellers.

This particular brief is from the Almost Naked line and features a “hang free” front pouch that your goods are supposed to fall naturally into.  The pouch is promoted as: Virtually eliminates sticking, squashing, re-adjusting, sweating and chafing.

I have worn this brief several times, and quickly found it to be one of my new favorites!  It has held up perfectly through several normal washings.  I find the 94% bamboo 6% spandex fabric blend to be particularly strong, while being extremely soft to the touch.  The waistband is made from Andrew Christian’s famous anti-muffin top elastic and boy does it deliver on that front!  The pouch is sufficient to keep the boys comfortable for all day wear, to the feel that you aren’t wearing anything at all!  This brief’s rear to stay nicely in place (no wedgies) to keep the almost naked feel in the rear too.

The good: Everything about this pair of undies!  The pouch, the rear’s wear, the color is sexy, the waistband doesn’t push anything out, and the wear is like nothing at all.

The bad: Since it is Andrew Christian, it’ll put you out around $30.

The verdict: The premium price is worth every penny, as this is a quality brief that you will enjoy for a very long time!

Review: PIPE Underwear Wings Brief

PIPE Underwear is a relatively new brand of undies on the market.  They have striking designs, including foil printing such as that on the Wings Brief.  I took advantage of a sale near the end of the year and picked it up so I could review their product.

The item arrived quickly and discreetly packaged, but once open, they are packaged in a very nice custom vinyl snap bag.  At first glance, it was obvious that this brief wasn’t decorated like anything you’ve worn before.

The brief is all white except the black elements of the pouch, waistband and trim.  The foil elements, cross with small wings on the front and the “69″ and large wings on the back are a striking gold.

The material of the brief is 93% cotton and 7% elastic.  The brief is a very firm and sturdy material.  The entire is snug without a lot of stretch, but that should be expected so the detail is maintained.  I found the butt coverage excellent with no riding what-so-ever.

The Good: Very well constructed brief, sturdy, comfortable, and extremely attractive!  It fits true to size (my normal Small fit me perfect) and has held up after several wears and wash cycles.

The Bad: Not much stretch.  If you have a larger than average package, you may want to size up so you’ll fit in the front, as there’s not a lot of stretch to them.  With the extent of the glitzy decor, though, this lack of stretch will keep the detail for a long time to come.

The verdict: Buy this or another in the PIPE range, you will be held (front AND back) comfortably snug all day long!

Review: 2xist Optic No Show Brief

Many recognize 2xist as one of the quintessential underwear brands.  It is sold in many stores and has more lines than my undies drawer can handle!  The Optic line is made of a silky smooth 94% modal 6% spandex blend that is unbelievably soft, to the point you don’t know it’s there.

The good: I found the brief was as soft as advertised, silky smooth.  The back of the brief didn’t ride up and it held up well in a standard wash cycle.  I tried the white brief, and it was quite bright and the color didn’t mull in the wash.  The waistband is quite soft, not causing any muffin top effect, and has a unique effect that is sure to garner attention.

The bad: This brief runs large and isn’t remotely “no show” as the name implied.  It rides a lot higher than other 2xist items of the same monicker.  Too bad they don’t make an XS size, because that would be my preference.

The verdict: Although it runs large, I like the softness of this brief and the brightness and durability of the color.  I have worn it a couple times to test for the review, and it will remain in my rotation for a while.

Review: Gregg Homme Sauna Brief

I recently had the pleasure (and pain) of trying out a sling-based enhancement brief: the Gregg Homme Sauna Brief.

I purchased this brief from a great online retailer (http://www.skiviez.com), and it was delivered quickly and discreetly.

Gregg Homme, as a brand, is based in Canada and is known for their innovative and extreme ideas in men’s undies.  Enhancement seems to be an homage to the pouch with Gregg Homme’s designs, and it can be a bit overwhelming when deciding what options they offer that will work best for you.

The Sauna Brief is made of a luxurious, soft, and sensual fabric of a very “silky” feeling 90% Acetate and 10% Elastane.  The fabric feels very soft and silky, but does ride up a bit after about a half-day’s wear.  It is constructed beautifully and with precision, as one would expect with an over $30 item.

The good: the fabric!  This brief is soft, sensual, silky and pouch conforming!  Without the pouch enhancing strap, this brief enhances and feels absolutely wonderful around the boys!

The bad: the enhancing strap!  I have yet to find an enhancement mechanism that operates the way this brief works that is long-term comfortable.   After a couple hours of having the strap around the boys, it simply hurts.  Very much like the C-IN-2 sling system, it’s just not for all-day use.

The verdict: This brief feels GREAT on!  It wears comfortable, but you have to be judicious when you want to “enhance” your profile with the strap, and only in moderation.  The back does ride up the crack on occasion, but that should be somewhat expected with the slinkyness of the fabric.

Where to buy?  Many stores sell the brand, and many also sell this brief.  I bought it at skiviez: http://www.skiviez.com/Catalog/Mens-Underwear/Products/6219927/Blue/Gregg-Homme-Sauna-Brief.underwear

A few other places include HisRoom, ABC Underwear, Men’s Underwear Store, Men’s Underwear Club, Undergear, and eBay.
